On selected properties we are happy to offer a refund of travel/hotel expenses up to a maximum of 1,500 euros. Not only are they extremely courteous and friendly but there is no end to their talents and capacity for problem solving!!! All we have need to do is email them with a request, no matter how ridiculousand it gets sorted out. This would include not only all the usual keyholding aspects but also completely organising from purchse to gitting our lighting, heating, shelvbing, security and shopping for us pre arrival. Meeting up in Carrefour to help us (non Spanish speakers) purchasing beds, sorting out various bills at the townhall, purchasing small household items when we dont know here to get them!! In fact the only thing we havent persuaded them to do is babysit. In short they allow us to feel totally relaxed about being non resident knowing our house is in a safe and conscientious pair of hands, it is rather like having a good relative looking after the place. Many thanks. Mrs L Niemy, Vejer It was one of the things a lot of people think about but never do, a place in the sun. After a lot of soul searching etc we decided to go for it and began to research Spanish property on the internet as a start of the process. We put together a list of options/requirements that had to be met. Big enough with supermarkets, banks, shops, market, bars, restaurants etc The list is endless, but we found a property that met all our criteria and booked an inspection trip with the company who were advertising the property. This inspection trip with Lesley and Derek McEwan went very well and we decided to take this a step further. The next step was to look at the cost of purchase, what extras need to be added (IVA@7% this is a purchase tax, NI number, Solicitors fees, Bank Account, etc). The property was “Off Plan” (when will it be completed), stage payments (what percentage of purchase price and when), how do you transfer money, Spanish Mortgage. These are some of the questions you need to ask. Then we had a great stroke of luck, when I enquired with the company who were advertising the property as to how I go about the next steps of utilities, furnishing, solicitors, builders etc. I was told that Derek and Lesley (who took us on our inspection trip had set up their own company – ( www.cadizcasa.co.uk ) and they might fit the bill. I contacted Derek and Lesley and explained what I wanted and could they help me, I got a positive response and we decided that they would hand hold me through the process. The first step was to look for a solicitor to handle the process and Derek and Lesley were able to recommend a couple so we had a choice and decided on a company called DN Law. This company met all our requirements, our solicitor, Vanessa Nacher was English speaking, they gave us an up front estimate of costs for the purchase of our house, this went smoothly, there were no surprises and the bill was as per estimate. The next step was to get the house habitable and this was where Derek and Lesley were invaluable. The house was completed but, without a kitchen (This is normal in “Off Plan” builds). This was good news as we could have the kitchen and appliances we wanted.. Electric Oven, Gas Hob, American Fridge, Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Microwave etc, what style units, worktops and was able to send photos of our requirements. We were given a range of prices and goods so we could pick what we wanted to our specification and budget, they even got the American Fridge in the sale with a discount that they passed on to us. The next thing was Air Conditioning (be careful with this as when they advertise pre installed Air-Con, this means that all the ducting and grills are in place but you need to purchase the actual A/C unit). Yet again we were given a list of prices and specifications and a cost to install. Finally, was the last of the big things, the boiler. This again met our requirements and was fitted to a high standard. These were the 3 big items and our expectations were exceeded. General furnishing came next and the list was endless:- sofas, dining table and chairs sideboard, chests of drawers, beds, garden furniture, barbeque, lighting, TV (another deal with a €200 saving in the sales), DVD, Freeview etc. Yet again, with modern technology we were able to get exactly what we wanted with price options to meet our budget. Finally came all the pots and pans, towels, cutlery, bed linen, kettle, toaster, kitchen utensils, bathroom fitments etc the list seemed endless, but as always this was all delivered in a timely manner as everything was completed for my first visit to my new house. I cannot thank Derek and Lesley enough for the service they offered to make the experience of buying my property in Spain an enjoyable one, their attention to detail and advice was second to none.
