Property for sale in Medina Sidonia

Standing on a hilltop is the ancient town of Medina Sidonia.   Yet another 'pueblo blanco' it dates back to the 15th century. Its most famous family would be the Dukes of Medina Sidonia who lead the Spanish Armada. Its ancient city wall is still standing and is a well known landmark in Medina Sidonia.  The old Parish Church in the small square high above the town provides fabulous views from its bell tower of the surrounding countryside as far as Cadiz and Tarifa. With its cobbled streets and the white washed buildings you are transported back in time to the days when the
Moors ruled this area of Spain.  The new town takes up the lower parts of the hillside and spreads out towards Vejer and Chiclana with its wide streets and airy parks. The Plaza de España is a favourite meeting place with its many cafés and bars and of course the famous cake shops ofMedina Sidonia. The almond cakes were originally made by the nuns to sell and supplement the convents' income.  Three of the main producers still working in the area are convents. Medina provides an excellent combination of converted merchant houses and new properties for sale.  It is has excellent road networks linking it to both the south (Costa del Sol and Gibraltar) and the north (Cadiz, Jerez and Seville).  Contact Cadiz Casa to view the beautiful Costa de la Luz property available in Medina Sidonia.
